Procrastination Magic
Do you sometimes feel like you’re two years old again, and refusing to do something?
Balking at the thought of getting something done?
Do you procrastinate doing certain tasks? Wasting your precious energy avoiding something, as you dread something you will eventually do?
Here’s a solution. It’s worked great for me and I’m confident it will work for you too.
The method is Emotional Freedom Technique, otherwise known as EFT tapping.
It’s a form of mind body therapy. You tune into what you’re thinking and feeling about a disturbing situation.
Simultaneously, you use your fingertips to tap certain points. These places are along the Chinese meridians in your body, the ones used in acupuncture.
I bet this seems silly and weird to you. But it works
Employ this tapping therapy for absolutely any disturbing emotion.
But it’s amazing when you use it for procrastination.
This is the EFT technique I like to use. It’s very simple and is an easy way to begin using EFT tapping, especially if you’re a newbie.
You use a couple of fingertips of either hand to tap, on either the right or left side of your body. Tap about 10 times at each point.
You’ll learn the tapping points by watching the very quick video.
Here’s what you do. Think of the thing you are avoiding doing.
Start tapping while saying the following phrases.
Eyebrow: I hate the thought of doing this thing!
Side of Eye: I dread the thought of doing it.
Under Eye: Just thinking of it makes me hate it.
Under Nose: I won’t do it.
Chin: I simply refuse.
Collarbone: I’m not doing what you say.
Under Arm: I don’t have to and you can’t make me.
Top of Head: I’m not doing it.
If you haven’t tried it yet, I bet you’re still thinking it’s silly. Well, give it a try!
You can tap the same phrases on each point (eyebrow point to top of head is one round) or for as many rounds as it takes to feel a shift.
After that, pay attention to how you feel about doing the thing you’ve been procrastinating. You may be surprised at how your avoidance and procrastination changes.
What can it hurt to try it?
