How to Meditate
Learning how to meditate is similar among many various cultures and religions. This stays true in many aspects of practicing meditation, from learning how to breathe properly, proper posture, when to meditate, picking the right place, mapping out your meditation and understanding our thoughts and emotions. The best place to meditate is one where you will not be distracted and can spend time alone without distractions and noise. Find a comfortable room that gives you a feeling of peace and serenity. Don’t stress with finding the right spot, after a few meditations the spot you choose will begin to absorb the energy from your meditations. This will help you to reach a deeper state of meditation in a shorter amount of time as you continue to program your meditation spot
Best Time To Meditate
It’s a great idea to choose a consistent time every day to meditate. The morning is a great time to meditate, before you have been inundated with your daily routine. Our daily lives stress us physically and mentally, which makes it harder to relax and get in the correct frame of mind to meditate. If you want your day to be more joyful and stress free be consistent with your morning meditations.
Choose Your Meditation Plan
When learning how to meditate it’s necessary to have a good plan. The right state of mind is important if you are going to be productive. Don’t meditate as soon as you come home from a hard day because you will wind up spending too much time trying to relax your mind and body. Your meditation would be more productive if you went for a walk to help you relax first. If you are tired than maybe you can take a cool shower or even an energizing fresh fruit drink. It is very important to approach your meditations with the best mindset and will help you get the most from your meditations.
Proper Meditation Posture
There are many different positions you can use when you are meditating but when you are just learning how to meditate it is best if you began in a seated position. You can sit in either a chair with a straight back or on the floor on a cushion. Imagine yourself grounded to the surface you are on and allow the energy to flow unrestricted from the floor, up your spine and out through the top of your head. Imagine that a rope is attached to the top of your head and is pulling your body taught and upright. This will provide a channel for the energy to flow through as it journeys up your spine and out through your head
Lay your hands gently on your thighs with your fingers relaxed and gently spread apart. Begin to relax your tongue and jaw as you lower your chin to your chest. With your mouth open slightly place your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Seeing but not really focusing on anything open your eyes part way. Place yourself in a state similar to that of a trance where you are aware but not aware at all. It is the same way in which we deal with any sounds: you hear the sounds but you don’t focus on the sounds. Let them be part of the background noise, which becomes part of the meditation and no more important than anything else in your field of consciousness.
Working with the Breath
When you begin to learn how to meditate you will notice that your mind is jumping wildly from thought to thought as our minds struggle to gain control once again. By focusing on your breath you will learn to let go of these thoughts. Counting your breaths is a great way to stay focused. To count your breaths, one breath in and one breath out will be a count of one. To help train yourself to quiet your mind try doing a series of 15 to 20 breaths. A good visualization would be to picture breathing in prana energy and breathing out stress and tension. Pranic energy is the all pervasive universal energy. Learn to tap into the universal source of energy by visualizing breathing in pranic energy.

You start to realize what it’s like to be in control of your fate and only accept peace and happiness in your life. A level of consciousness that shows you that you are more than you think you are. You are breaking free from your restraints and are no longer bound by the illusions you have placed on yourself.
