Daring Panic To Get Worse~Panic, I Dare You!~Telling Panic To Bring It On
The kind of anxiety self help I’m about to share a technique that you may be opposed to initially.
I’m advising you to dare your panic to get worse. Try to further provoke your anxiety to it’s highest extent.
How can this possibly help anything, you ask?
Below are the answers.
When our fight or flight body mechanism is triggered, we panic and feel anxious. They are the body’s natural response that prepares us for danger. They are there to help us avoid danger or escape it.
And part of what fight or flight does in the brain is make us look for more signs of danger. It increases our alertness level.
Daring Anxiety
What you’re going to do is this. Imagining turning and facing your anxiety or panic. Stare at them right in the eyes.
Imagine saying these to them, “Is that all that you’ve got?” “I dare you to make things worse.” “Try me and bring out the best that you’ve got.”
It takes a lot of courage to actually do this. To dare to worsen your anxiety and panic levels.
But this courageous action can be surprisingly effective.
You’re trying to bluff against your anxiety.
And a target is already made in your mind. Your brain stopped looking for any danger.
You’ve found it. You’ve found out that anxiety is the danger.
When you face it, gather the courage to dare it to do its worst… …It then fades away.
All the terrifying results are just threats. Anxiety cannot make those things happen.
So it falls back.
For your last and final technique, make it a point to invite again panic. Tell them that they’re always free to drop by any moment.
Then smile and sit back and wait for nothing to happen!
Of all the anxiety remedies I’ve used, this is a total opposite of an anxiety cure should be. But its effectiveness kept me recommending it to others.
